So Why triathlon?

I really enjoy training, I love riding my bike but I found riding a bike all the time tedious. I enjoy being either in or on the water, whether its fishing, diving, swimming or on the stand up paddle board, summer is no doubt my favourite time of year. I can't say I love running but I like the challenge of running. So triathlon makes sense, it has everything I like plus more. Do what you love, and love what you do.

what i do when im not coaching:

My business partner and I run an electrical contracting business (DATT Electrical). Very proud of the fact we built our business from nothing to now employing 12 great people. It is also satisfying employing young apprentices, teach and watch them grow not only as a worker but as young people finding their way in life.

My coaching philosophy:

I have been very fortunate to have spent time with some amazing and influential people in my time as a mountain biker and Triathlete. People like Damien Grundy, a former coach of Cadel Evans and the AIS. Martin Whitley who now runs the most successful mountain bike team in the world, to our own Clinton Watson. How many athletes has this man coached to qualify for world championships in triathlon? So it is my turn to give back, pass on the knowledge I have learnt and help people succeed. I believe success should be measured on you being able to achieve the best of what you are capable of. To do that you need to learn the lessons, do the work, prepare well and have a crack on race day.

qualifications:

I have a level 1 Triathlon coach, which I believe they call a development coach. i love coaching all distances and all athletes (from first timers to ironman)

my achievements:

2 x top 5 results at world mountain bike championships
2 x National Mountain bike titles
National mountain bike series winner
2 x Ironman 70.3 world championship qualifier 5 x IRONMAN FINISHER
2 x Ironman world championships (Kona) finisher

SOMETHING PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT ME….

Well this answer is more about what people should know. I'm a dad, my wife (Kath) and I have 2 great kids and we love to get away in the caravan and have fun. Kath also competes in triathlon. Oh here is one, I have an electric drum kit and like to plug the headphones in and play the drums to my favourite tunes.
